Sunny Robot Arm

About

100% custom-made robot arm with a total reach of 5 metres. The arm has 3 DOFs with two rotational joints and a linearly moving base.

Each part has been designed and manufactured by us (excluding aluminium profiles, rails, and motors). The codebase is also fully designed and implemented in-house and uses only basic Python libraries to handle some tasks.

The arm has a few different control options, such as manual and API control and path execution. The core feature of being the path-following robot, which simulates the solar effect on building automation systems, by moving the end-effector lamp along a sun’s path and dynamically changing its colour.

The project is fully open-sourced, and much more information can be found in the GitHub repository, where all part designs, code, and precise documentation can be found.
